Desk Worthy is an independent compatibility and buying-decision project for MacBook users connecting external displays, USB-C docks, and coding monitors.

The current project is deliberately narrow. We focus on Apple Silicon host display limits, lid state, native Thunderbolt, DisplayLink, MST, resolution and refresh targets, charging, monitor pixel density, and the exact connection path from laptop to screen.

Our goal is not to rank every dock or monitor. It is to expose the compatibility question before a reader reaches a merchant page, show when the available evidence is incomplete, and make unsupported setups return a clear warning.

Current evidence scope

The compatibility engine currently includes 11 verified M1-through-M5 MacBook host profiles and 5 representative dock profiles covering native Thunderbolt, DisplayLink, and MST. Every published compatibility row links to an Apple or manufacturer source and carries a verification date.

Desk Worthy has not physically tested every listed device. “Verified” means the published claim is supported by an official source, not that we performed a laboratory review.
